She is the daughter of Cengiz İçyer. Sümeyye İçyer Özökten, a Fetullahist like her father Cengiz İçyer, was born in Ankara in 1983. Sümeyye, who has an arrest warrant for establishing or leading a terrorist organization, is married to Fetullahist Yunus Özökten and they fled abroad in February 2015. Sümeyye İçyer Özökten and her husband Yunus Özökten are known to have fled across the Evros River to Greece and then to Germany.
